I found refuge in sleep
but I am aware-
painfully aware
that light's deep inroads
will eventually find me
even here...
between sleep and wakefulness
I experience trance like dreams
without the use
of laudanum and arsenic
I am clumsier, awkward
almost primitive
and driven mad
by the unseen world
I am not alone, but inhabited by others
who came before me...
