I raised my gaze from the scorching pavement
and slowly hid her in my pocket but not before gently caressing her hair and promising that I'll take her home with me once again I'll put her on that wooden shelf on the balcony next to the spices so they can get born together under the sun she told be she likes how the morning rainbow shines in my hair so at dawn I'll set her on my shoulder and she will jump rope with the colors I'll read to her 'Les Fleurs du mal' during the day so she will remember that she too was once loved in the evening I'll play the piano for them for her and the basil they always enjoy listening to me at night I'll cover her with a glass bell so she won't be afraid of the stars so she won't lose herself too much in the story so I won't pick her up again the next day from the pavement
