The darkness is low over houses of chalk
Blinding the windows and sealing the doors. I skip of my bed and i'm out for a walk. In thousands of houses I'm looking for yours. I find it alone on a field of lavender That bloom in the heart of this jungle of stone. Even the windows are utterly tender When pouring their light on the slumbering lawn. I fade to a shadow, then seep through a crack And dwell on the tip of your trembling lash. You moved, and the blanket has slipped of your back For moonlight to cover it, chilling your flesh. The drops of this night silently seep Leaving the sky prepared for the light. I'm tired but happy, for how could I sleep If I haven't told you "My darling, good-night."
