My tired flesh in ash I lay,
To watch the sun go down this day, To see it bathe, in blood, the sky, To see it falling down to die. And thus I stay and cry. Now shadows stretch across the land, Gripping it tightly in their hand, As nature âround me falls asleep Tears dropping from the ocean deep. And thus I stand and sleep. As hidden sorrows drip from my sight In a dry lake reflecting the night, My mistress reigns in dim mists veiled, So far away in her kingdom sealed. Sombre sky your gown undress And let the moon my wounds caress, Embracing the world in its slow pace, Dancing within darkness with grace. The curtain, at last, clears the stage And so I see thee in thy cage, As vast as ones eye can see Yet still robbed from being free. Like a virgin pearl you shine, Into your sea of black pitch lured, Let my empained heart be thine, For too much it has endured. Her silence cast my dreams aside, While nature âround my slowly died. Bleeding I kneel in this cruel dawn, Winter has come and all is gone. I can see the first morning ray. It rends the night in mourning gray, It makes you slowly fade and I Reach up for you. But youâre too high. And thus I stay and cry. For now to distant shores you fly. My life left coloured in grave dye, I understand my end is nigh And so to you âfarewellâ bid I, And thus I sigh and die.
