One day I was feeling like trying an old traditional Romanian pie. I havenāt tasted it for years, so I happily entered the first restaurant. The waiter popped up from behind a door.
Do you have traditional pie here? - you know...with flaky pastry and cheese... The waiter laughed at me. Are you kidding? Try at the pub next door I followed his directions and entered the recommended pub... Any traditional pie? I asked. Of course said the pub tender. We have traditional Chinese cookies here. It was fairly dark in the pub and it took some time until my eyes could see the man standing in front of me. I noticed a pair of slanted eyes and his high-pitched voice suddenly made sense. Wrong pub I said, cursing the first waiter who directed me here. I don't want fortune cookies; all I want is a traditional Romanian pie. After two more pubs, I started to wonder whether my quest raised suspicion. Maybe the pub tenders called each other in the meantime... There is a man in a blue t-shirt walking around - he enters each pub and asks for I don't know what. After two exhausting hours I said to myself that I have to take some days off and go to the countryside. If I am fortunate enough, I may find some granny who still knows how to cook a traditional pie.
