I had gone to bed early that night after a long walk in the deserted streets. Lying there in the green velvety bed clothes, my faint mind was playing a love game with the silence stuck to my body. The hidden effect of the stroll was that of giving me plenty of rope to analyze my sensations and the way the outside world reflected in the inside.
I was following again the road to the pier when a bracing wind pierced my winter coat, making me tremble and bend. I rubbed my hands and lighted myself a cigarette. Its blue pleasant smoke was stirring my eyes when I noticed that the sun was about to set down. I suddenly found myself covered in an autumnal gentle light which was turning my identity upside down. It was just like my self- awareness was burning and giving rise to a total new meaning to this earthy life. I continued to blink towards the sunset and an unfamiliar vertigo was taking over my world. I decided to come to my senses, find some bar, drink vodka and gather new strength.
After running like mad about the streets I stopped puzzled: there was a divine silence surrounding me, a stock-still time that could be set in a frame and a curtain of white fog which was guarding the early night.
I ram my hat over my frozen ears and headed for my small apartment. My shoes were all wet, full of mud, so were my paints and the button of my coat. The echo of the footsteps was rising behind me like a mythical creature meant to revive the spirits of some faded times.
Try as I might, I couldn't recover my reason and explain myself the lack of humans or the solitude of the streets. Strange white birds were rallying around me and their screech was giving shivers down my back.
I couldn't resist anymore. The over tension was so high that I could barely move. With superhuman efforts I worked my hands free, came finally home, made a lime tea and went to my dreams.
