That Four-Letter Word !
by mazHur

Should I forget that four-letter word
which played its toll on me!
Never never, no one can;
Be it for this or that or any reason.
Ah,that four-letter word,
that harbinger of tears and smiles.
Ah, that tiny bit of assemblage of letters,
governing this world,
you and me and all that's around,
dead or alive,
below the earth or up the sky,
has no eyes, heart, sense of judgment,
bereft of rationale and logic,
shuns rules and discipline,
has no mind no heart,
yet he is the king of kings,
the master of our destinies,
a virtuously vicious circle,
a halo, a phantom,
surrounding everything.
You and I are mere slaves to him,
yet he cares the least.
Enigmatic as he is ,
he would do whatever comes to his mind.
like an invisible magician,
unpredictable , merciless,
adept at unimaginable sleight of hand
and magical feats;
more weird than the occult,
ghastly at one time,
pleasant at other.
when our plans go wrong;
when scientists are boggled with results
contradicting data;
when things happen as they shouldn't,
when love turns into hate
and hate into lovel
this craziest of all,
this damn four-letter word
has definitely played its toll!
He favors whomever he wants,
ruins the deserving,
blesses the rogues;
he's like a god
working in his own mysterious ways;
Had he been a three letter word, a god,
I would have mistaken him for one;
but in his purest form
he's a four-letter word,
but as powerful as god himself,
and we call him Fate!
