I walked the desert sands
and the sun was burning hot I left for foreign lands saying 'forget me not' I felt the heat of the scorching dunes and heard them cry at night They moaned a thousand mournful tunes beneath the eagle's flight I saw the lonely jackal smile and creep into the dark I rode a hundred million miles and bore the desert's mark I kept secrets to myself and learned to speak in signs I cast off this mortal shell and became one with Time Sands flow Sands stay So will you go and come back another day I held the grains of time in my hand and let them fall one by one I walked out humble from that land and subsided to the sun I've been water and I've been rock and now myself again But still I hear the ticking clock that turns 'now' into 'then' Sands flow and sands stay So will you go and come back another day Forever this way scattered around, in the sky and in the ground, nothing and everything, a King of Kings
