I first halted
on the riverbank staring before and behind at the myriad signs sprung like grass blades along the walks of life I left behind a harbor a sunny seashore and people up and about renting ships to sail out mid waves rocks clouds and seagulls Then I met the stars saw light on an earth limb and made up my mind to come to life For several light-days I made friends with gaudy fish with pearly oysters with the water gloss plaited sun rays into a cane and then hit the road I looked right and left people made houses woods words at times they gathered together to shelter some dream kids ran inside the maze runes danced on the cloth of the sky by and by my life grew into a heart So I took the road on my left to the rainbow's home to the love-tree to the joy-of-life nest where flowers grew as tall as love fruit as large as hope dreams as bright as light you walked on silent shade to my carver's shop where I honed my words cut in thought roots golden with stardust beyond sunshine there lay a mountain and scary houses my cane had stopped budding so I said I'd take it for a glance plaited out of moon beams that's how my life was spent under the schoring sun
