V âWhen you want somethingâŚIâ
The next three days passed without anything exciting or out of the ordinary to happen, except for the fact that Marcus found his new attraction: a 17 years old girl who could juggle torches and glasses full of water, without dropping a single drop. Of course Velvet thought it was just another backstage trick, which didnât deserve a place in the show. So, as I told you, except that, everything was normal, but, as many times in life, normal days are rare and pass fast, so, one night happened something out of the ordinary that surprised everyone, everyone except Velvet, since she was the one doing it. It must have been about 10 oâ clock; after Velvet finished her dance, when a man, with a funny hat and a smile that gave the impression he was quite dumb, appeared at Marcusâs room door to ask him where âmademoiselleâs Velvetâ room was. Marcus wasnât surprised because everyone who came backstage wanted the same thing. So, convinced that whatever his offer may be, Velvet was going to refuse it, he led him to her cabin. -Here it is, sir, though I doubt she can receive you!! Marcus knocked and Velvet appeared in the doorstep. The big shock was that in that moment, the man, without any holding back, asked Velvet seriously if she wants to marry him. Everyone in the hall started laughing. -Getting married? sir,⌠I donât think this is something myâŚ., but when he was about to finish his sentence⌠-Yes, I do. Said the charming voice of the young dancer. Everybody stopped laughing and silence was left in the hall. -You what?? Asked Marcus confused. -I accept, said Velvet. The man didnât want more and replied that the next day, at⌠I think he said 9 oâ clock in the morning, a carriage will come after her and her father, and that, if she agrees, in less than a month, they will be married. Everybody was expecting to hear her saying it was a joke, but for everyoneâs surprise, she agreed. So, after the man left, it didnât take long until Fred heard the news: -Iâve never questioned your decisions, but this time I have to interfere. -Donât! Itâs my decision and I wonât aloud anybody, not even you, to doubt it, said Velvet looking at Fred scornfully. -I know you thing I am a poor musician who wasnât able to keep his fortune standing, but I am also the man who raised you and even if for this only time, you will listen to me!!! She knew him well, and knew that there are times when Fred couldnât be fought against, so she looked in the mirror and started the âplayâ: -Once, when I was little, you told me that you would do anything for me!! I am not asking you to agree with my decision. I am only asking you to accept it. I have my reasons and I know what I am doing. -But, the man could be insane, he couldâŚ. -âŚhe is not insane; he is a bit fool, but, that is something I find very in my favor. -Youâre up to something!! God have mercy on us!! Alright, we will go and see this man, but! If he is not as you say, you will not marry him!!! Are you listening?? You will not marry him!!!!!
